Changelog

What's changed.

Changes shipped on or after July 24, 2026 appear here, newest first.

Sep 15 2026
FixedIn the booking sheet, the fee now fills in every time you open it. Before, closing and reopening the sheet at the same price could leave the Fee box empty, and the lesson was booked with no fee.
FixedOn Students, only one reminder sends at a time. Before, you could tap Remind on a second student while the first was still sending.
FixedWhen every student is archived, the Students list now says "No current students."
ImprovedThe warnings at the end of a lesson about a missing signature are shorter. The lesson is still saved and marked unsigned until it is signed.
ImprovedWhen an account cannot be unlinked, the message now tells you to use "This is a duplicate" to merge the two records.
ImprovedSelling a prepaid package now stops if your package terms change after the buyer has signed, so the buyer always signs the terms you sell.
Sep 14 2026
FixedLesson reminder, payment and progress emails now show the time as 4:00 PM and the date written out. Before, they showed 16:00 and 2026-09-14.
FixedThe "Upcoming lesson" notification now shows the lesson time with AM or PM.
Sep 13 2026
ImprovedThe lesson skill record now prints the student's details at the top of each page: name, licence number, class, expiry, address, phone and earliest exam date.
ImprovedThe inspection pack now includes the lesson skill record, straight after the training record.
ImprovedWhen you add a student yourself, phone and address are optional. Name, licence number and class are still required.
FixedExporting a record now shows "Preparing your PDF" while it is made. Before, the screen froze with no sign that anything was happening.
ImprovedIn Safari on a Mac, the loading screen now says that Safari can take a few minutes to make a PDF, and that another browser is much faster.
Sep 12 2026
NewA printed lesson skill record: every lesson is a column, every skill a row, scored 1 to 4. Find it under Export records.
ImprovedThe printed progress summary has the new look and now fits on one page.
FixedOn the Students page, tapping a student with a report waiting now opens the student. The Review button opens the report.
Sep 8 2026
FixedA bill raised for a student their parent enrolled did not show in the family's portal, so nobody could see what was owed. New bills now reach them.
FixedA correction added to a lesson report after signing did not reach the student's portal or their emailed copy. Corrections on the lesson and on the report now show as one list.
ImprovedWhen you join two records for the same student, the readiness score on their page now counts lessons from both. Printed records still report their own record only.
ImprovedThe driver-ed course tick now says the 18-month credit still applies after 19 Oct 2026, and that it means a completed course.
FixedOpening the app on the dark theme showed a light loading screen first.
NewYou can now put your lessons into the calendar app on your phone. Settings gives you one link to subscribe to in Google, Apple or Outlook Calendar. Names and pickup addresses are hidden until you switch them on.
NewTwo records for the same person can now be joined. The duplicate stops showing in your student list, nothing is deleted, and anything already signed stays where it was signed.
NewEnrolment now shows how many of the two signatures are in when a student is under 19, so you can see whether the parent still has to sign.
NewThe theme can now follow your phone or computer, so the app turns dark when your device does.
NewThe licence renewal email now has a button that takes you straight to where you record the new date.
FixedStudents and parents could open their progress page and find it empty. Lessons booked for a child their parent enrolled were not reaching the family's account. They are now.
FixedA booking request with no answer held that time slot for good. A request now releases the slot after 24 hours, and the request itself stays in your list to confirm or decline.
FixedPaying for your subscription could land you back on the upgrade screen instead of in the app.
FixedA note added to a lesson after signing did not show on a no-show, did not reach the family when you re-sent the report, and never appeared in the student's own portal. All three now work.
FixedA skill you deleted while offline came back when you reconnected. Deleting custom skills over and over could also stop a school saving any settings at all.
FixedThe sign-up page you hand to a student asked for a phone number that had already been entered.
ImprovedButtons with only an icon now say what they do out loud, so a screen reader can read the whole app.
ImprovedThe licence expiry warning now says what it does. Marking that you have seen a licence confirms it on screen, and it no longer claims to clear a warning on a date that has already passed.
NewWhen you join two records for the same student, the readiness score now shows the pair's combined total, not just one half.
FixedA parent could not see a bill for a child they enrolled themselves. Bills now reach the parent's account.
FixedA correction added to a report after signing did not reach the student's own portal. It does now.
ImprovedThe driver-ed course checkbox now says the course must be finished to count, and that the credit still applies after October 19.
Sep 7 2026
NewA short tour now walks you around the menu the first time you open the app, showing what each part does. Everyone already using copilotBC gets the tour too, not just new sign-ups.
NewA short copilotBC animation plays once per browser tab when the app opens.
FixedThe opening animation could show a flash of the plain loading screen before the app was ready. It now waits.
NewOn a desktop, the top bar now shows a pill for a lesson in progress, with the student's name and the time so far. Click it to jump back into the lesson.
ImprovedcopilotBC has a new look. Every screen was redrawn: the schedule, students, the active lesson, records, availability, settings and the sign-in page. There are two themes, light and dark, and the app follows the one you pick. Nothing moved that you rely on, and no feature was removed.
ImprovedThe student and parent portal was redrawn to match, with its own menu bar.
ImprovedAll 19 emails copilotBC sends were redrawn on one frame, so a booking confirmation, a signing link and a receipt now look like they come from the same place.
FixedPrinting or saving a lesson record as a PDF produced a blank page. The same fault hit the package agreement. Both print correctly now.
FixedWhen your availability windows overlapped, a student booking a lesson was offered the same time twice.
ImprovedAvailability windows may now overlap. You get a warning, and the day still saves.
FixedDragging a lesson into the gap you keep after another lesson threw an error and refused. It now asks first and moves the lesson if you say yes.
FixedTrying to leave the availability page after an edit could trap you in a browser message that kept returning you to the page.
FixedOn a phone, the bottom of a page could sit behind the menu bar, out of reach.
FixedIn Safari, the last letter of the copilotBC name was cut off.
FixedIn Settings, the vehicle make, model, year and plate ran off the edge of the card.
FixedOn Android, the Quick Actions button could come back blank after you closed the menu, with no arrows drawn on it.
ImprovedSignatures are now at the top of the end-of-lesson screen instead of three scrolls down, and the button that emails a signing link is the main one. The button that saves without a signature is no longer the loudest choice on the screen.
NewA Request signature button now sits at the top of a lesson report on a phone, as well as in the quick actions menu.
FixedDuring an active lesson, the skill assessment now fills the screen on a phone, with bigger rating buttons and a voice button on every note.
FixedThe three-dot menu on the two-factor reminder was hidden behind the edge of its card.
Sep 2 2026
NewA new Email activity page shows every email copilotBC sends for you: queued, sent, waiting, or failed, with a reason and a Send again button. Emails that hit a daily limit now go out on their own once it resets, instead of being dropped for good.
NewFull driver's licence numbers and full home addresses now show only their last characters or town on a student's profile. Tap to reveal the full value for 30 seconds. This keeps the details safe on a phone you hand to a student to sign.
NewWhen you rate a skill, you now see how the student rated it at their last lesson, with a stepper to move it up or down from there. Nothing is filled in for you.
NewThe active lesson screen now shows two clocks: one counting from the booked start time, and one counting actual driving time.
FixedA lesson signed off without the driving timer running no longer records the booked length as instruction time. Some students' hour totals may go down; that is the correct number.
NewYou can now correct a lesson's fee at any stage, including after it is signed, from a control on every lesson. Every change is logged with the old amount, the new amount, and who made it.
NewEdit lesson details is now open on any unsigned lesson, so you can fix the focus, pickup, instruction type, night driving, odometer readings, or notes without starting over.
FixedOn the Email activity page, a lesson time such as "9:15 AM" could split across two lines. It now stays on one line.
FixedThe night driving checkbox on Edit lesson details was smaller than the same checkbox on Book lesson. Both now match.
Sep 1 2026
FixedOn some Android phones, the time picker for booking, confirming, or rescheduling a lesson had no Set button, so a chosen time could not be saved. All three now use the same time picker as the rest of the app.
FixedWhen a student under 19 filled in their own details on a handed-over phone, the Save button could sit hidden behind the bottom menu bar on a small screen. The button now stays visible above the menu bar.
Aug 27 2026
NewYou can now break a skill into parts and rate each part separately. Tap a skill to open it. Right turns can hold approach speed, lane positioning, scanning, shoulder checks and right of way, each with its own mark and note. Those marks print on the record, show on the student's phone, and appear in the skill history. A skill with no parts looks and behaves exactly as before, so nothing changes unless you want it to. In Settings you can build your own list of parts for any skill, and a school owner sets one list for the whole school.
FixedWhen you sent a signing link, the choice between QR code, link and email disappeared the moment the QR code appeared, so in practice only the QR code could be used. All three choices now stay on screen.
FixedThe row of buttons at the top of a student's profile still would not scroll on a narrow phone, although it was listed as fixed on August 26. The row was pinned to the right edge, which pushed the extra buttons off the left side where no swipe could reach them. It scrolls properly now.
FixedA student who signed up from your booking link had to verify their email first, and the verification message always returned them to the sign-in page instead of the page they came from. On an iPhone, opening that message inside another app then left them stuck on a screen asking for an invite link they did not have. The message now returns them where they started.
FixedA lesson report emailed to a student showed a skill you marked Proficient as Developing. The word in the email now matches the mark you gave.
NewYou can now change a booked lesson's length from your phone. Open a lesson, choose Reschedule, and set the length alongside the date and time. The fee follows the new length, in a box you can edit before you save, so a rate you agreed with a student is never overwritten without you seeing it. Until now the length could only be changed by dragging the edge of a lesson in the calendar, which does not work on a touch screen.
FixedA lesson report emailed to a student could name a skill by its internal code rather than its name, for example "custom-ls-1756312891043". This happened to any skill you had hidden or deleted since writing the report. Skills are now always named.
FixedEditing a draft report while offline could delete a rating for a skill you had hidden since writing it. The rating vanished from the record with no warning. Ratings for hidden skills are now kept.
FixedTapping an already-selected rating to clear it could make the whole report fail to save, taking every unsaved rating with it, with no explanation. This happened at sign-off, which is the worst possible moment. Clearing a rating now saves normally.
FixedLeaving an instructor from the People screen in the student portal could remove that student's ability to see the instructor's available times and book with them, when the student held two records with the same instructor. The People screen now shows each record's lesson count and start date so they can be told apart, and warns when two records sit under one instructor.
FixedA student who signed up on one device and confirmed their email on another was not recorded as a student or a parent account. Both are now recorded whichever device they use.
ImprovedA report now stores the name of each skill as it read when you wrote it. Renaming a skill in Settings no longer changes the wording on reports already written. When you hide, rename or delete a skill, you are told how many past reports hold a rating for it before you confirm.
ImprovedThe student portal now shows the real name of every skill on a lesson, including skills you built yourself. It used to say "Additional skill" for anything outside the standard list.
ImprovedWe no longer say a parent or legal guardian must co-sign for a student under 19. No BC law requires that, and a parent is not automatically a guardian. The forms now ask for the adult who is responsible for the lessons, and ask how they are related to the student, with step-parent and legal guardian as options. The printed student record no longer prints guardian consent as REQUIRED.
NewYou can now correct the length of a lesson after it has been signed. Open the lesson, choose Correct the length from the actions menu, enter the right length and say why. The signed record is never changed. The correction is recorded beside it, and both lengths show on the student record, on the printed record, in your exports and on the student's phone, along with the date, your name and your reason. Until now a wrong length was stuck on a six-year record.
ImprovedCorrecting a lesson length does not change the fee, the invoice or any payment already taken. The correction dialog says so, and warns you when the corrected length crosses a price band.
FixedA student could see a second, empty copy of their own record in the portal, left behind by an abandoned sign-up, with no way to clear it. You can now release the linked account from an empty record on the student's profile. Records holding lessons or reports are left alone, and the button says why.
FixedFor a few hours today, changing a booked lesson's length could clear the lesson's fee. It happened when your pricing had no set price for the new length, which includes every length change if you price by service. The lesson then finished with no fee, so nothing was owed and nothing showed in Earnings. The fee is kept now. If you changed a lesson's length on 27 August, check its fee.
FixedFor a few hours today, the box for correcting a signed lesson's length read a small number as hours. Typing 8 recorded eight hours. It reads minutes now. If you corrected a lesson length on 27 August, check the figure.
FixedA corrected lesson length is now counted everywhere. The student's own progress page was still adding up the original lengths, so their total could disagree with the progress link you sent them and with the printed record.
ImprovedEvery correction on a lesson now prints on the student record, not only the most recent one. A correction filed in the evening is also dated by BC time on the statement of services, which had used a date that could be a day ahead.
FixedOn the student portal, the People screen no longer says a record has no lessons before it has finished loading, and it holds the Remove button until it knows. It also says so plainly when the lessons cannot be loaded at all.
FixedA skill rated by the AI draft could show as "Additional skill" on the student's phone instead of by name.
FixedDeleting a custom skill, restoring one you had removed, or renaming one back to its standard name could quietly undo itself. The change looked right on your phone and the next update from the server put it back. It also meant a second device with Settings open could overwrite lists you had just edited. Those changes now stick.
FixedWhen a skill list was too long to save, the editor closed and threw away what you had typed, under a message suggesting something that would not have helped. Your typing stays put now, and the message says plainly that no new list can be started.
Aug 26 2026
NewYou can now end a lesson and email the student a link to sign it on their own phone, in one tap. The hours count as soon as the lesson is saved, so a student in a hurry no longer holds up your next pickup. The link lasts 24 hours, and any lesson still waiting for a signature is listed on your schedule and under Past lessons, with one tap to send the link again. If the student has not signed after six hours, we send them one reminder.
FixedA driver's licence number with 8 digits was refused, so a student holding a card issued since July 2023 could not be added at all. ICBC moved from 7 digits to 8 on July 24, 2023, and older 7-digit cards stay valid. Both lengths are now accepted.
FixedA student who signed up through your QR code or website link, using their email address, was asked to paste an invite link they did not have. They now go straight into enrolment with you. Signing up with a Google account was never affected.
FixedSending an enrolment link to someone already on your student list created a second, separate record, so their lessons and reports sat on the record you could not see. Before the link is sent you are now shown the student you already have, with a button to open it.
FixedOn a phone, tapping a booking in the calendar often did nothing, so a lesson booked at the wrong time could not be moved or cancelled. The whole booking is tappable again, the actions list stays on screen wherever you tap it, and you can scroll the day with a finger resting on a lesson.
ImprovedOn the end-lesson screen, a lesson about to be saved much shorter than it was booked for now raises a clear warning, and the confirm button shows the length it will save. The duration becomes part of the permanent record when you sign off and cannot be changed afterwards, so this is the last point at which a wrong figure can be caught.
FixedOn a narrow phone, the row of buttons at the top of a student's profile (Signed forms, Export records, Back) could run off the edge of the screen with no way to reach the ones cut off. That row now scrolls sideways so every button is reachable.
FixedOn a busy lesson record, the end odometer reading and the GPS distance could be refused when you saved them. This hit lessons drawn from a package, lessons with a report, and every lesson taught under a school. Both figures save again.
FixedA reminder for a lesson booked after November 1 could arrive an hour early or late. BC stopped changing its clocks in March, but a phone with an out-of-date time zone list still expects a November change. Lesson times are now anchored to BC time and no longer depend on the phone.
Aug 25 2026
FixedOn a busy lesson record, saving your lesson notes could be refused with no message. This hit lessons carrying a lot of detail, and every lesson taught under a school. Notes save again.
FixedWhen a student signed on their own phone by QR code or link, that signature was held only on your device until you finished the sign-off, and if the app closed first it was lost. It is now saved as soon as it arrives. If it ever cannot be saved, the lesson screen tells you instead of failing quietly.
FixedIf you ended a lesson without the student's signature, collecting that signature later from the lesson record could fail with a permissions message. Signing later now works, on lessons of any length or detail.
FixedA few student records had stopped saving altogether. Lesson counts, readiness scores and status changes were all refused without any message, while the record looked normal on screen. Those records save again.
Aug 23 2026
FixedOn an Android phone, the Save button on Add Student could sit behind the on-screen keyboard with no way to scroll to it, so a student could not be signed up. The button now stays in view, and it is bigger and easier to hit.
FixedThe Add Student page could fail to load on an older iPad. It now works on iPads back to iPadOS 15.4.
FixedOn a touchscreen, scrolling past a booking in the calendar could drag it to a new time without you noticing. Moving a booking now needs a deliberate press and hold, and a lesson that has already started or finished can no longer be moved at all.
FixedWhen you held a slot for someone who called, the time picker on some Android phones had no button to confirm the time. Picking a time now works the same way on every phone.
ImprovedStudents no longer tick a box agreeing to six-year record keeping at every single lesson. Keeping the record is required by BC rules, not a choice, so it is now stated plainly on the signing screen and agreed once on the enrolment form.
NewIf you open copilotBC from a link inside another app, such as your email, the app now tells you and helps you open it in a proper browser. Reminders, offline use and staying signed in are all unreliable in those built-in browsers.
Aug 20 2026
FixedEnding a lesson could fail with a permissions message and leave the lesson running, however many times you or your student signed. It affected lessons carrying more detail, such as a service, a package, GPS distance or a long note. Ending and signing off now works on every lesson.
NewYou can now log one odometer reading at the start of your shift and one at the end, from a Duty card on your dashboard. This counts the driving between students, which a single lesson reading always missed. The per-lesson reading is still required.
NewWhen someone calls to book before they have signed up, you can now hold their spot from Add Student. Enter their name and contact details, pick a time, and the sign-up link goes out by email in the same step.
ImprovedYou can now delete a student record, but only if no lesson was ever booked, started, or completed for them. Every other record stays archived, as our six-year record rule requires.
FixedInstalling the app on your phone in dark mode used to show a bright blue status bar over a near-black screen, and a plain splash screen. Both now match the dark theme.
FixedWhen two students share a name, the roster now tells them apart by licence number first, instead of date of birth.
FixedSigning up or signing in used to hang forever with no message if your browser blocked the security check that guards the sign-in form. It now tells you what happened after a few seconds, instead of hanging.
FixedOn a slow start, the app could get stuck on its loading screen and then wrongly claim it could not start, even though it had loaded. This no longer happens.
FixedThe "changes synced" message at the top of the screen and the network warning banner used to sometimes disagree with each other. They now always show the same, correct status.
FixedOn a phone, dragging down at the top of the student and parent portal could trigger the phone's own page-refresh and reload the whole app. That drag no longer does that.
FixedOn some phones, the Save button on the sign-up form sat hidden behind the on-screen keyboard. The page now resizes so the button stays in view.
FixedWhen sign-in or sign-up could not complete our security check, the error message wrongly blamed your browser or an ad blocker. It now says plainly that the problem is on our side.
ImprovedThe skill rating scale in a lesson report now has four levels instead of three: Introduced, Developing, Competent, and Proficient. Each level has a short explanation for students and parents to read.
FixedOn copilotbc.ca, the "How it works" section could show as blank if your browser blocked scripts. It now always displays, and buttons across the site are easier to tap on a phone.
FixedTapping a lesson in the student portal could crash the app with an error screen. It now opens the lesson normally.
FixedThe student Payments card could wrongly say "you're all paid up" when a balance was still owed. It now shows the real balance, or says honestly that it could not check.
FixedA non-owner instructor's documents and setup checklist showed the school name as a blank dash until the owner next opened the app. They now always show the real name.
FixedOn the "Do it here" sign-up flow, "Continue to the documents" could stay greyed out with no explanation. It now tells you what is still missing.
FixedThe end-of-lesson duration field accepted absurd numbers, like 99999 minutes. It is now capped and corrects itself with an explanation.
FixedSome banners, dialogs and the phone number field were hard to read in dark themes. Contrast is fixed across all of them.
FixedTapping a "Requested" lesson in the portal dropped its status label. The label now always shows.
FixedHalf the fields on the "Do it here" sign-up form had no visible border, so the form looked broken. They now match the rest of the form.
FixedDates, singular and plural counts, and several labels were inconsistent across the app, for example "1 lessons" instead of "1 lesson", and up to five different date formats. Wording is now consistent everywhere.
FixedA very long school name could break the top bar and other layouts. Long names are now trimmed everywhere they appear, including on signed documents.
FixedA newly enrolled student could see conflicting messages: one screen said enrolment was complete, another said no student record was linked. Both screens now agree, and update as soon as the instructor accepts.
FixedAll five tabs at the bottom of the portal could show as selected at once. Only the current tab highlights now.
FixedClearing your phone number in account settings said "Saved" but kept the old number. Deleting it now actually deletes it.
FixedAn expired or invalid sign-up link was reported as a generic network error with no way out. It is now correctly identified as a bad link, with an exit.
FixedDate of birth and permit number fields accepted nonsense, like a birth year of 3025. Both are now properly checked, which also protects the rule that a minor needs a parent's signature.
FixedSome headings and legal text were hard to read in dark theme, and some form controls did not match the theme. Both are fixed.
FixedForm errors used to show one at a time at the bottom of the page. Each field now shows its own error, and it clears as soon as you fix it.
FixedFleet let you add a vehicle with no licence plate or year, which then showed blank on the printed MVAR record. Both fields are now required.
FixedThe phone number and driver's licence fields accepted junk text and said "Saved" anyway. Both are now checked before saving.
FixedA record's date field accepted a five-digit year. It is now bounded to sensible dates.
FixedExporting or printing an ICBC or MVAR record on an Android phone in Chrome could print a blank page. Exports now print reliably.
Aug 19 2026
NewThe week view now works on a phone. Pick "Week" from the view menu, then swipe sideways to reach the rest of the week. The hour column holds its place while you scroll.
ImprovedThe row above the calendar now lines up. The month, the view menu and the date field sit on one line, and the date field is no longer three times wider than the date in it.
FixedOn the dark themes, today's date on the calendar was marked in a purple that is not one of our colours. It is now the copilotBC blue.
ImprovedThe student and parent portal now opens in light mode by default. You can still switch to dark from the portal's own appearance setting.
FixedOn a phone, the calendar day view used to hide everything after about 10 AM, with no way to scroll to it. The whole day now scrolls into view, and more of it fits on screen at once.
FixedA disclosure could state its cancellation fee three different ways under one signature, so a student could be signing terms that disagreed with each other. Each disclosure now states one cancellation fee schedule, taken from your actual policy.
FixedRemoved a leftover permission that let an outside tracking script run inside the app. It never matched what our privacy policy promises, which is no analytics in the app at all.
FixedThe three skill-rating buttons in a lesson report could get cut off on some phones, hiding the third option. All three buttons now always fit on screen and stay tappable.
Aug 18 2026
FixedYour school's name was missing from the ICBC road test consent form, the pre-training disclosure and both enrolment consents. The documents showed a dash where the school name belongs, even though the name was set and showing correctly elsewhere in the app. Every document now carries it, and enrolment will not ask a student to sign these forms at all while the school name is blank.
FixedDate of birth is now required when you enrol a Class 7L or 7N learner. A blank date used to let a minor's enrolment go through with no parent or guardian co-signature and no warning. The form now stops you and asks for it.
FixedA student with an unpaid balance could get completely stuck if you had not finished connecting card payments: every booking slot was disabled, and the payment screen could not clear the balance either. Booking now asks the student to confirm instead of blocking them outright, and the payment message tells them to pay you directly instead of pointing at your Settings screen.
FixedOn a device that had not yet finished loading your school's settings, a school member could briefly edit fields that belong to the school, like cancellation fee tiers and the compliance disclosure. Any change on those fields is now blocked until your school's real settings have loaded.
Aug 17 2026
FixedPublic enrolment links stopped working on July 28 and were broken until today. A student or parent filling in the form could reach "Continue to the documents" and no further, with the message "Missing or insufficient permissions." Enrolment now completes normally.
Aug 16 2026
ImprovedEmails from copilotBC now arrive from [email protected] instead of [email protected]. Now that replies reach you, the old address claimed something untrue. If you or a student filed our emails by the old address, update that rule.
FixedReplies to automatic emails reached nobody. Lesson reminders, booking confirmations and cancellations went out from a no-reply address, so a parent who pressed reply was writing into a void. Replies now reach the business email address in your settings, or your account address if you have not set one. Emails you send by hand, like a payment or signature request, already replied to you and still do.
ImprovedAutomatic emails now carry your business name where a parent looks first. The sender reads "Your school via copilotBC" instead of only "copilotBC", and your business name starts the subject line. A parent can now tell who the email is from without opening it.
FixedIf you teach under a school, your automatic emails showed your own business name, address and phone number instead of the school's. They now carry the school's details, which is also what the law requires the email to state. Your own details come back if you leave the school.
FixedOn the pricing page, the shaded band down the multi-instructor column used to split apart where a heading row crossed all three columns. It now runs unbroken from the price to the last feature. The dark band at the foot of the pricing, features and compliance pages used to stop short of the edges, with a white strip down each side. It now reaches the full width of the screen.
ImprovedThe pricing page now compares the two plans side by side on one table. Every feature is a single row across both columns, so you read straight across instead of hunting between two lists. The multi-instructor column shows everything a single instructor gets as well, and the features that only come with a team sit below a divider with a cross against the single-instructor column. Both prices are far larger than before and stay on screen while you scroll the list.
Aug 15 2026
NewIf you run a school, you can now open Revenue and see how much money each instructor brought in and how many lessons they taught, for this month, last month, year to date, or any dates you pick. The screen also tells you when it can't count something, like a bill or a prepaid package marked paid by hand outside the app.
ImprovedIf your school ends up with more instructors than seats, the extra seats are now switched off at your renewal rather than everyone staying on indefinitely. Because a seat reduction only takes effect at renewal, you get the whole billing period to decide: your instructor list names the date and exactly who would go, and you can switch off whoever you choose instead, or raise your seat count and keep everyone. If the date arrives and you have not chosen, we start with invitations nobody accepted, then the most recently added instructors, and email you and them. Switching someone off is not the same as removing them: they keep their own account, students and records, carry on working independently, and you can bring them back onto a seat whenever you have one free.
FixedOur terms said removing an instructor seat took effect straight away with a pro-rata credit. It does not: a reduction takes effect at your next renewal, which is what the app, the pricing page and the help centre have said all along. The terms now say the same thing.
NewYou can now record when your driver's licence expires, alongside your driving instructor licence and, if you have a school, each car's insurance and registration. copilotBC reminds you 90 and 60 days before each date, which is early enough to be useful: renewals, background checks and medical clearances in BC often take longer than two months. Reminders arrive by email as well as on your phone, so you get them whether or not you installed the app. Nothing is ever blocked if a date lapses or you leave it blank.
NewSchool owners can now see each instructor's licence renewal dates on that instructor's page, and their fleet's insurance and registration dates on the Fleet page. BC law makes the school responsible for its instructors and vehicles being properly licensed and insured, so owners are reminded about them too. A date nobody has entered yet is shown as "not recorded", which reads differently from one that has lapsed.
NewYou can now download everything you have in copilotBC as a single file, with every student's records laid out so you can read or print them, alongside a complete copy of your data. It still works if your plan has ended, so you can always get at the records you are required to keep.
NewYour cancellation policy can now use up to 8 notice bands (for example, less than 24 hours notice charges 50%), plus a separate no-show charge and a separate reschedule charge. If you would rather just write your policy in your own words, there is a new manual mode for that instead.
ImprovedYour cancellation policy now shows up exactly the same way everywhere a student sees it: in the disclosure they sign at enrolment, on their booking screen, and in their lesson details. Previously the disclosure held a separately-typed cancellation fee that could say something different from what you actually charged. Changing your policy also now updates any QR sign-up link so new students always sign the current terms.
NewSelling a prepaid lesson package is now two steps. Before you take payment, you show the buyer the written agreement, either on their own phone by QR code, on yours, or by email if they are not with you. On the first two they type their name to confirm they have read it. The Sell button only turns on once that has happened, so the buyer always sees the terms before they pay, as BC consumer law requires. If you change the price or anything else afterwards, the confirmation drops and you are asked to show them again.
NewIf you agreed a prepaid package in person somewhere other than your own premises, in the car or at their kitchen table, BC treats it as a direct sale and asks for more. The agreement now records where you were and carries your signature as well as the buyer's, and their copy is emailed the moment the sale completes instead of sitting on the card for up to 15 days. A copy given late on that kind of sale can let the student walk away from the whole thing.
NewWhen you sell a prepaid lesson package, we now ask where the sale took place, and the written agreement includes the buyer's cancellation rights for that kind of sale, as BC consumer law requires. Packages you have already sold are not affected.
ImprovedYour prepaid package refund terms in Settings now also cover returns and exchanges, not just refunds, since BC law asks for all four.
FixedOur privacy policy said that where a student is under 19, the instructor gets consent from a parent or guardian before entering the student's information. BC privacy law tests capability rather than age, so a student who understands what they are agreeing to gives their own consent, whatever their age. Both privacy policies now say that, and explain that the parent's signature at enrolment is a separate thing: they are agreeing to the fees and your policies as the person arranging and paying for the lessons. Nothing about the app changes. The student and the parent both still sign, and parents keep the portal access they have today.
FixedThe subscription page had no way to read our refund policy before you paid, and the price on it was typed in by hand, so it could drift out of date. The refund policy is now a link you can open before you subscribe, and the price shown is fetched live, so it is always what you will actually be charged.
FixedSigning out could quietly leave the offline copy of your student records on the device if the app was still open in another tab or window. It now tells you when that has happened, and asks you to close the other tabs and sign out again, which clears it.
FixedThe sign-in screen called the app "the road test companion." The road test is one day at the end of many lessons, so it now says "the driving lesson companion" instead, which better matches what you actually use it for.

NewIf you teach for a driving school, the school now takes the card payments for the work you record under it. A student paying for a lesson, a bill or a prepaid package pays the school's Stripe account, the school issues any refund, and you no longer need a Stripe account of your own to be paid by card from your first day. This matches what those students were already agreeing to: they are billed under the school's name, its GST number and its refund policy, and the written agreement for a prepaid package already named the school as the seller.
NewSchool owners: your own connected Stripe account is the one that collects for the whole school, so set it up under Settings if you have not already. Card payments for lessons your instructors record under the school land there, and you issue those refunds from it.
ImprovedIf you are a member of a school, your Earnings page now keeps money the school collected out of your totals and out of your tax export, and shows it separately so you can still see it. It is the school's income and the school's GST to report, not yours. Anything a student paid you in cash still counts as normal, as does everything from before you joined.
FixedWork you recorded before joining a school, or after leaving one, is still sold by you and paid to you. Which of the two applies is decided by the record itself at the time you made it, so it never changes afterwards.
FixedCorrected our terms, refund policy, pricing page and help articles, which all said the instructor is always the seller of the lesson and that we offered no way for a school to collect payments. Our terms now also say plainly that what a school pays its instructors is entirely between them: copilotBC does not calculate, split or hold back any share of a payment, and offers no way to do so.
FixedThe floating Save bar on your Availability page could sit on top of, and block taps on, whatever row was underneath it as you scrolled. It now sits at the bottom of the page instead of floating over it, so nothing is ever hidden behind it.
FixedEnding a lesson right after rating skills in the report popup could show "0 skills rated" in the sign-off summary, even though everything had actually been saved. The summary now always shows the real count.
FixedIf your availability failed to load, booking screens used to show up empty with no explanation, as if you simply hadn't set anything up. They now tell you when that's what actually happened.

NewYou can now protect your account with an authenticator app, so a stolen password on its own is not enough for someone to sign in as you. Turn it on in Settings, under Account and access. Once it is on we show you a short list of one-time recovery codes, once, and ask you to type one back before you can leave that screen. Save that list somewhere other than your phone, because those codes are the only way back into your account if you lose it.
NewIf you run a driving school, you can now change how many instructor seats you pay for yourself, under Manage subscription. Adding a seat takes effect straight away and we charge the difference for the rest of the month. Removing a seat takes effect at your next renewal, so the instructor in that seat keeps working until then. Seats can be set anywhere from 2 to 25.
ImprovedYour instructor list now tells you when you have more instructors than seats, instead of only saying the plan is full. Nobody is switched off if that happens: everyone keeps working, and you keep seeing the records they make. You just cannot add anyone new until the two numbers meet, and the screen says which of the two things to do about it.
FixedCorrected our terms about what counts as a seat on a School plan. The owner's own account always counts as a seat, whether or not the owner teaches, and an instructor you have invited but who has not yet accepted also counts, because the seat is being held for them.
FixedA prepaid package agreement can no longer be sent while your package refund terms are still blank. It used to go out with a placeholder where your refund terms should be, and BC consumer law treats a missing term on one of these agreements as a serious problem for the seller, which is you. Write them in Settings under Prepaid package terms and the copy sends normally.
FixedWe described the package agreement as being emailed automatically when you sell a package. It isn't: the agreement is written at the point of sale, and sending the copy is one tap on the package card. The card counts down the 15 days you have to send it in. Corrected everywhere we said otherwise.
ImprovedEvery automatic email a student or parent receives (lesson reminders, confirmations, cancellations and payment requests) now names your business in the footer, along with your business address, phone number and email, and says copilotBC sent it on your behalf. Canadian anti-spam rules ask a commercial message to say who it is from and give a postal address, and these details are the ones you have already entered in Settings for your ICBC paperwork.
FixedOur privacy policy said a parent or guardian holds all of a minor's access and correction rights. Under BC privacy law those rights belong to the young person themselves if they are able to exercise them personally, so the policy now says so.
Aug 12 2026
NewOur Terms of Service now has a section for driving schools. It sets out what the school owner can see about each instructor, what they can never see, what happens to records when an instructor leaves, how seats and billing work, and who is responsible for what under BC privacy law. If you run a school, that section applies to you on top of the rest of the terms. It also covers what copilotBC does with your students' records on the school's behalf: where they are stored, how they are secured, when we would tell you about a breach, how we help you answer a student's access request, and what happens to lesson audio. That is all in the same section, so there is nothing separate to sign.
ImprovedOur Security page has been rewritten to describe what is actually built and switched on today, including a plain list of the things we do not have.
FixedCorrected our pricing page's description of adding instructors to a school. You invite an instructor with a join link and they keep their own account and password; copilotBC never creates or holds an account on their behalf. The page also no longer promises bookings routed by pickup area, which isn't something we're building at the moment.
ImprovedIf you work for a driving school, the licence number saved against your account is no longer part of the profile the school owner's device receives. It was never shown to them, but it was being sent, and it belongs with your signature and payout details where a school never sees it.
ImprovedOur privacy policy now describes the in-app help assistant, which sends the question you type so it can be answered from our help pages. Nothing from a student record, lesson or report is attached to it.
ImprovedWe used to state that our AI provider does not use text sent to it to train their models. We cannot stand behind that on the plan we are currently on with them, so we have removed it rather than leave a promise we cannot keep. What copilotBC does has not changed: the AI feature is still off unless an instructor turns it on, it still sends de-identified lesson text only, and we do not train anything on your data.
FixedThe screen you see when a driving school invites you now describes exactly what that school can and cannot see. It used to say the school loses access to everything of yours the moment you leave, which was not true of the lessons and reports you recorded while you were with them, and it did not mention that the school can see students you taught before you joined. The same correction has been made on the join-by-link page and on the owner's side.
FixedWe told instructors that a school owner cannot see private notes on a student. There is no separate private notes store, so notes on a student's record are visible to the school like the rest of that record. Corrected everywhere we said otherwise.
FixedCorrected what our pricing page, terms and help answers said about cancelling. There is no read-only period after a subscription ends, so export anything you want to keep before your renewal date. Nothing is deleted when a plan ends: signed training records stay stored for the six years the law requires, and resubscribing brings your access back.
FixedThe in-app help assistant was quoting an out-of-date subscription price. It now quotes what you are actually charged.

NewSchool accounts are here. One person pays for however many instructor seats the school needs, invites each instructor with a join link, and gets a panel where they can open any one of them and see that instructor's students, upcoming lessons, recorded lessons and reports.
NewA school sets its business details, prices, policies and pre-training disclosure once, and every instructor on it works from the same ones. An instructor working on their own is unaffected, and anything they set up before joining a school is kept and comes back if they leave.
NewA school keeps a shared list of its training vehicles, so an instructor picks a car from the list instead of typing the details in again.
NewRecords created while an instructor is part of a school stay readable by the school, even after that instructor leaves. The school is the one ICBC asks for six years of training records, so it should not lose them when someone moves on.
NewAn instructor invited to a school is told exactly what the school will and won't be able to see before they accept. Their students, lessons, reports and activity log are visible to it. Their signature, their payout details and their licence number never are.
ImprovedPricing is now one plan priced by how many instructors you have, rather than a separate instructor plan and school plan. Each extra seat costs less than the one before.
Aug 10 2026
NewSelling a prepaid package now writes a proper written agreement for the student, or for their parent if they're under 19. Sending them the copy is one tap on the package card, which counts down the 15 days you have to send it in. It sets out who they're buying from, the date, what they're getting, when lessons can start and when you expect to have finished, the price with GST shown, how they're paying, and your refund terms. Paying up front for lessons you deliver later counts as a contract under BC consumer law, and a written copy has to reach the buyer within 15 days.
NewSettings has a new place to write your refund terms for prepaid packages, which is a different question from your lesson refund policy, and the package card now shows whether a copy has been sent and how long you've got.
Aug 7 2026
New If you open the app in a second browser tab, you'll now be warned it isn't protected offline the way your first tab is, unless you're mid-lesson or have unsynced work, so you know to switch back before you lose signal.
New Settings now has a place to record that you're holding a copy of your instructor's licence and your training vehicles' registration and insurance, as required, and to flag when either is missing or has expired.
Improved The subscription price shown before you sign up now always matches what you'd actually be charged.
Fixed Our pricing page was still listing last month's price. It now shows what you're actually charged.
Fixed Road-test day reminders — the instructor's heads-up and the student's good-luck message — had never actually been going out. They now arrive as intended.
Fixed Settings could quietly stop saving for some accounts, showing "App out of date" even on a fully up-to-date app. Fixed for everyone affected.
Fixed The app's own typefaces were failing to load, so everything appeared in a plain fallback font. The proper lettering is back.
Fixed Logging a learner's night and highway practice hours no longer wrongly rejects valid entries when the two overlap, like an hour driven at night on a highway.
Fixed Booking a recurring lesson series could schedule straight through an already-booked lesson; the two conflict checks now agree.
Fixed A time-off day more than a year out can now actually block bookings that far ahead.
Improved Booking on a day you don't normally work now warns you, the same as booking during declared time off already did.
Fixed Today's schedule no longer says "All done for today" while a lesson is still in progress.
Fixed A remote student signature arriving partway through a lesson session now shows up right away instead of the screen still saying "no signature yet."
Fixed Odometer readings you type during a lesson are now saved as you go, so a reload right before you finish typing no longer loses them.
Improved You'll now see a warning when a lesson's confirmed duration would be capped at the maximum allowed length.
Fixed The lesson sign-off summary no longer shows an empty "-- km logged" line when no distance was actually measured.
Fixed Custom skills you add in Settings now show up right away in a report you already have open.
Fixed The signing-code screen said "10 minutes" for every code, even the 30-minute one used for enrolment forms; it now shows the real time limit.
Fixed Your Reports list could show a lesson cancelled in the future under "Past lessons"; it's now sorted correctly.
Fixed Two students with the same name looked identical on your Students list; you can now tell them apart.
Fixed If a student has more than one instructor, one instructor allowing self-booking no longer accidentally lets that student self-book with every instructor.
Fixed Paying a bill you sent to a student directly is now protected against being charged twice if Pay is tapped more than once.
Aug 6 2026
Fixed A booking link you create now asks students about lesson recordings when you have voice memos switched on. A brand-new link never asked, so students who signed up through your website were never recorded — even though they'd have been happy to agree — until something else on your settings page happened to refresh the link.
Jul 29 2026
Fixed Changes to your prices and services now show up in your activity log. They were being left out of it entirely, so there was no record of when a price changed or who changed it.
Improved Bills, payments and prepaid packages now show properly in your activity log, with their own labels and filter buttons. They used to appear with no label, and some were described as reports.
Jul 28 2026
New You can now set a bulk price on any lesson — "buy 3 or more, $180 each" — and sell several at once from a student's page. The total works itself out, so you no longer type a discounted figure into your price list.
New A student who buys at a bulk price can keep that rate on their later single lessons, both when you book and when they book themselves. The rate belongs to that student, so a parent who bought a block for one child doesn't get it for another — and you can add or remove one by hand on the student's page.
New You can now choose whether your prices include GST or have it added on top, and cancellation fees can be set to charge the value of the missed lesson — including a credit from a prepaid package — instead of a fixed dollar amount.
New Adding a student now asks for their phone number, the address on their licence, their licence or learner permit number, and the two dates ICBC prints on the card (earliest exam date and expiry) — the details you actually need on file.
New You can now drag to reorder your service catalogue and the during-lesson skill checklist, and the service editor opens right where you turn it on instead of somewhere else on the page.
New Voice memos during lessons are now off by default. Turn them on for a student in Settings → Compliance if you want to record, and recordings now delete themselves automatically after a set number of days (30 by default) instead of staying on your device forever.
New A student (or their parent) can now ask their instructor to stop recording lesson audio, from their own account settings — future lessons won't be recorded and any existing clips are deleted.
New Signing up now asks a student whether their lessons can be recorded, with a one-tap "no" that needs no signature and never holds up finishing enrolment.
New You can now upload your own pre-training disclosure as a PDF and have students sign that, instead of the one copilotBC builds from your settings. Every version you publish is kept alongside the records signed against it, so replacing the file later never changes a disclosure somebody has already signed.
Improved Lesson reports and receipts now show whether a lesson was paid, not just what it cost.
Improved For driving schools, enrolment documents now name the school a student is enrolling with, instead of the individual instructor.
Improved The enrolment consent and the privacy policy now tell a student that their record is held by the driving school, and that the people who run it can see it as well as the instructor they drive with — so what they agree to matches how a school with more than one instructor actually works.
Fixed Corrected the graduated-licensing guidance shown to students and instructors so it matches today's rules — guidance for the changes coming October 19, 2026 was showing up early.
Fixed A student's pre-training disclosure now stays exactly as they signed it — changing your prices or services afterwards no longer rewrites the copy already on file.
Fixed Removed the request for an "ICBC instructor licence number" — ICBC doesn't issue one, so the app no longer asks for it or flags it as missing on your records.
Fixed Fixed a case where a student's very first lesson, booked in the same step as accepting their enrolment, could leave them stuck showing "No lesson booked" even though everything was signed.
Fixed School policies uploaded as a PDF now appear on the screen where students sign them. Until now a student was shown a link to open the file instead of the document itself.
Fixed A student booking on patchy signal is no longer warned that it failed when it actually saved. A request now saves on their phone and sends itself the moment they're back online, and booking a time instantly says plainly that it needs a connection rather than looking like it worked.
Jul 27 2026
New Adding a student now starts with a choice: send them a link to fill in themselves, do it together on your device, or just type in the details of someone you already teach.
New A parent can enrol several children in one go, on their own phone. Each document goes to whoever should actually sign it, and anything still outstanding is listed on the student's card with a "Send reminder" button.
New You're notified by push and email as soon as someone completes an enrolment, so a signed form no longer sits unnoticed until you next open the app.
New If a student signed a form on paper, you can record that you hold the paper copy, which clears the reminder without pretending a signature was captured in the app.
Improved Your school policy and progress-sharing preference are now agreed during sign-up rather than chased afterwards.
Fixed The road test consent form is signed by the student, as ICBC's form requires. Previously a parent's signature was collected for it and the form was relabelled to match, which it should not have been.
Fixed The two ICBC documents now work on every pricing setup. If you charge a flat rate, use a service list, or add a fee per lesson, they were silently left out of enrolment with no way to put them back.
Jul 25 2026
Fixed Students who haven't booked a lesson yet are now labelled "No lesson booked" instead of "Pending", which read as though their enrolment or paperwork was unfinished. It only ever meant they had no lesson on the books.
Fixed Enrolment and signing emails now go out ahead of bulk reminder sends, and in the order they were queued, so a student waiting on a link no longer sits behind a batch of reminders.
Fixed The road test consent form now matches ICBC's own wording exactly, and no longer suggests it has to be signed in ink — signing it on a phone is fine.
Jul 24 2026
New Share one booking link or QR code — put it on your website, a flyer, or a business card. New students sign up, sign their enrolment paperwork on their phone, and are paired with you automatically.
New Students already enrolled with you go straight to booking when they open that same link — no signing up or paperwork again.
New Started the public roadmap & changelog. From today, every shipped change gets logged here.
New You can now set a pickup spot for a lesson and get one-tap driving directions to it from the schedule.
Improved Clarified the privacy policy — what information leaves Canada and when — on both the website and in the app.
Fixed Progress emails no longer show a styling glitch on the readiness badge when a student hasn't been scored yet.
Fixed Booking a lesson on a patchy signal no longer says it failed when it actually saved — the booking is kept and syncs as soon as you're back online.
Fixed Fixed the sign-up flow when a parent books lessons for their child: it now asks the parent for their own details, and asks the right person to sign the enrolment paperwork.
New Added an in-app help chat — ask a question and get an instant answer from our support guide, or send us a feature request straight from the chat.
