Account deletion
Delete your copilotBC account
You can delete your account in the app or in any web browser. You do not need the app installed.
If you are an instructor
- Sign in at app.copilotbc.ca in a browser, or in the copilotBC app on your phone.
- Open Settings, then Advanced, then Delete my account.
- Press Continue. Confirm it is you with your password, or with Google or Apple, and press Delete my account again.
Your sign-in closes at once. Any other phone or computer still signed in loses access within the hour.
Two things can stop it. If some changes have not synced yet, connect to the internet and let them sync first. If you own a school that still has instructors, remove or archive their seats first.
If you are a student or a parent
- Sign in to the copilotBC app, or at app.copilotbc.ca.
- Open My account. Under Delete this account, press Delete account.
- Confirm it is you with your password, or with Google or Apple, and press Delete permanently.
Your sign-in is deleted immediately.
If you cannot sign in
Email [email protected] from the address on the account, with the subject "Delete my account". We confirm it is you and reply within 30 days.
What is deleted, and when
- Instructor accounts, immediately: your sign-in is closed and every session ends. Push notifications are removed, your calendar link stops working and your public booking links are turned off.
- Your future lessons are cancelled when your account closes, and your students and their parents are emailed: a notice for each cancelled lesson, plus one email that explains your account has closed and that they can't book with you through copilotBC any more. Past lessons and their records are not changed.
- If you pay for a plan: it is cancelled when your account closes, with no further charges. If that does not go through, we cancel it by hand and email you.
- Student and parent accounts, immediately: the sign-in, and its links to student records.
What is kept, and why
An instructor's lesson records, reports, signed documents and payment records are kept for six years, as BC's driver-training record rules require (Motor Vehicle Act Regulations, Division 27). Then they are destroyed or anonymised.
A student's lesson records belong to the instructor or school that taught them. They keep those records for the same six years. Deleting a student or parent account does not delete them.
