Canadian data residency
Every record — names, licence details, lesson history — is stored in Google Cloud's Toronto region, encrypted at rest and in transit. BC's Personal Information Protection Act expects personal information to be handled with care; keeping it on Canadian soil is where we start.
Security & trust
copilotBC's protections aren't just promised on paper. They're enforced at the server layer — not just hidden in the app — and verified through regular adversarial penetration testing.
Every access check runs on Google's servers — not just hidden in the app. No instructor can ever reach another's students, lessons, or reports, even by calling the database directly.
Once a lesson is signed off, the record is permanently locked at the database layer. It can't be edited, un-signed, or deleted — not even by you. Signed records can never be destroyed.
Corrections appear as dated addenda — the original text is never silently replaced. An append-only audit log records consequential actions; its history cannot be edited or deleted.
Optional lesson recordings are transcribed by Whisper running entirely in your browser. The audio is never uploaded. Only the text transcript syncs to your records in Canada.
HTTPS-only, with HSTS preload (2-year, all subdomains) so browsers refuse insecure connections. A strict Content-Security-Policy blocks rogue scripts and third-party injection — no inline scripts, no wildcard script sources.
Regularly subjected to adversarial penetration testing — deliberate attempts to break in, forge records, and inject malicious data. We aim to fix findings promptly and re-verify before shipping.
